Agave atrovirensAlong with Agave montana, Agave atrovirens has to be the highest elevation plant in the genus. Along with Agave montana, Agave atrovirens has to be the highest elevation plant in the genus. I have seen these massive giants in the north of Oaxaca growing among the pines, straddling the border with Puebla, and while driving past coffee farms and the famed mushroom town of San José del Pacifico, up to 10,000' elevation. These noble giants of the mountain grow up to 10' tall and in excess of 16' across. Somewhat resembling Agave americana, Agave atrovirens has a wider rosette and leaf and remains solitary. For anyone who has grown Agave americana in their garden, this ought to be a desirable feature, as removing the prolific offsets rarely occurs without loss of blood. Besides, as often is the case, an agave standing alone is preferable to look at compared to one covered in offsets of various sizes. Despite their high-altitude origins, Agave atrovirens do well at sea level in California, as well as the inland zones where the high temperatures can be in the 90's or more, and to low temperatures down to at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit without frost damage. Upon bloom time, expect a towering inflorescence resembling a telephone pole covered in orange- red buds opening to yellow flowers.

The species name means 'dark green', and there are dark green strains, but most images from habitat and cultivation show much more blue plants. These blue plants are A. atrovirens var. mirabilis. Howard Gentry gave the blue plants varietal status based on "the leaves consistently light grey, glaucous' color." In my experience, the plants growing under the canopy of the pines are dark green with a more open rosette, whilst those exposed to the sun are bluer with tighter leaves. Individual leaves can weigh over a hundred pounds, and this is reputed to be the agave with the tallest inflorescence - up to 40 feet. Although it lines up visually with A. americana, the leaves are fewer, wider and larger.

David's premium bamboo soft bristle toothbrush
I'm trying to live a healthier life, and one thing I'm doing is to reduce my consumption of plastics. In the past, I've brushed my teeth with either regular hand held and electric plastic toothbrushes. In an article concerning reducing plastic consumption, David's premium bamboo soft bristle toothbrush was recommended. David's toothpaste is great, don't believe me, read the label and compare the ingredients to other brands, and David's toothpaste does not come in a plastic tube. David's premium bamboo soft bristle toothbrush feels different from other toothbrushes. The bamboo toothbrush handle feels light and smooth, and the toothbrush bristles are not stiff and harsh, but soft and soothing, perfect for brushing my teeth and messaging my gums. I've been using the toothbrush for a few months now and I have to admit it is the best toothbrush ever!

Eco-Friendly, Comfortable, and High Quality
I was looking for a sustainable alternative to plastic toothbrushes, and David’s Premium Bamboo Toothbrush absolutely delivers. It's a perfect mix of eco-conscious design and great performance. ✅ Quality: The bamboo handle is smooth, lightweight, and easy to grip — no splintering or rough edges. The bristles are soft yet effective, making them gentle on gums but still great at cleaning. 🌱 Eco-Friendly: Love that it’s biodegradable and made from responsibly sourced bamboo. It feels good knowing I’m reducing plastic waste without sacrificing dental care quality. 💰 Value: For a premium eco-toothbrush, the price is very reasonable. You’re getting a product that looks and feels high-end while supporting sustainable practices. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make simple, environmentally friendly swaps in their daily routine without compromising on comfort or effectiveness.

An Excellent Toothbrush that's Good for Your Mouth and the Environment
Mindful of plastic's impact on the environment, I've tried many alternative toothbrushes. Davids Premium Soft Bristle Toothbrush is by far the best. The handle is engineered so that it's comfortable to use, and the bristles really are soft and well made. I have never once experienced even one bristle coming loose and ending up where it shouldn't be in my mouth. That happened with other brands. So now, I won't buy any others besides Davids.
