From a series of satirical prints first started by Nicolas I de Larmessin (1634 1694) and continued by his younger brother Nicolas II de Larmessin (1640 1725), who re engraved his brother's images in reverse starting

In overall good condition is with minor toning, very gentle rippling, and water staining along the bottom. From a series of satirical prints first started by Nicolas I de Larmessin (1634-1694) and continued by his younger brother Nicolas II de Larmessin (1640-1725), who re-engraved his brother's images in reverse starting in 1695 and added a number of his own original works to the series. This is one of Nicolas II's re-engravings in reverse, in which the background is simplified. Between the two brothers, there were over 80 satirical etchings produced of professions and trades, all rare on the market. They surely owe a debt to Archimboldo, and perhaps Dali, Ernst and others owe a debt to Larmessin.

The street vendor in this fanciful costume print advertises his profession as a vinegar maker.
