The advent of the SG stems from a legacy of innovation, and the Futura series continues the tradition of advancement with bold new flourishes. The double-cutaway mahogany body delivers solid tone and sleek style, an aggressive horned silhouette that offers comfort and non-intrusive access to the higher frets. Eye-catching and dynamically flashy, the Futuras implement a Chromashift gloss finish (found here in a Nitro Shift orange), a treatment which reveals hues of red, orange, and green when reacting to angled light sources. This finish extends past the body and up the back of the Modern C profiled mahogany neck and Kalamazoo headstock, ensuring the finish is illuminated on every corner of the stage. An ebony fingerboard is affixed to the neck, a beloved wood for its pronounced attack and comfortable slide. Segmented by 22 medium jumbo stainless steel frets and guided by pearloid split block inlays, players will always find their fingering across the 24.75" scale length.

Debuting for the Futura series, Epiphone has engineered the Probucker Ignite pickup, a humbucking all-rounder found in the neck and bridge positions that deliver clarity in the face of the high-output driving tone. Traditional for the SG model, these pickups are controlled by two volume knobs and two tone knobs, one for each pickup, and functions with a switchable 3-way pickup toggle. What isn't traditional for the model, however, are the push/pull mechanisms found in the tone knobs, unlocking coil-splitting and phase options to supply the guitar with expanded voicing variety.

At the end of the day, a guitar is only as good as its intonation. Epiphone has trusted the task to a Locktone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, ensuring proper intonation while supplying rich resonance. To hold all tunings, past and Futura, Grover Rotomatic locking tuners are utilized for ease of use in common adjustments and routine maintenance.
