Haar zelfvertrouwen groeide tijdens het schrijven van nieuw materiaal, waarbij ze vanuit haar hart heeft geschreven. Een manier van werken die soms confronterend was, maar daardoor ook oprechte en persoonlijke teksten opleverde: “Ik moet mezelf helemaal blootgeven, nadenken over persoonlijke ervaringen. Je komt er vaak gaandeweg achter dat je blijkbaar ergens mee zat.”

Samen met een keur aan songwriters en producers, variërend van Benny Sings en Yoda tot Wouter Hardy en producer Gordon Groothedde, werkte ze over een langere periode aan het materiaal. Dat resulteerde in een album vol meeslepende soulpop met een edgy hiphop groove, zoals op 'Daydream Eyes'. 'No Tears In My Champagne' is de opvolger van Nona's gelijknamige debuutalbum uit 2019
