"Your First Patchwork, Yoko Saito's Traditional Patterns" contains 32 patterns, 4 tapestries made by combining patterns, and 24 practical items such as bags, pouches, and interior accessories.
It is a long-awaited preserved book for quilters. It Introduces many patterns that quilt fans have longed for in an easy-to-make manner, even for beginners.

The great Japanese quilt artist, Yoko Saito first became fascinated with American patchwork quilts.
All traditional patterns have their own unique stories.
For example, "Mayflower" quilt pattern is a popular design that has been around for many years.
It is named after the ship that carried the Pilgrims to America in 1620.
This pattern can truly be called the beginning of American quilt.
"Chimney Sweeps" quilt pattern is also seen as a symbol of good luck because they cleaned the fireplaces used for heating and cooking on behalf of family members to prevent fires.
The traditional quilt patterns developed during the pioneering era have a long history, and the techniques devised at that time have been passed down to today's quilts.

The traditional patterns have been arranged to match today's lifestyles, and are carefully explained with photos and illustrations to make them easily, even for beginners.
If you don't feel like quilting, why not try making one pattern first?
You can try making it into a bag or pouch, or you can have fun without quilting it.

I'm sure it is a wonderful book
Format: Board book
I bought this book for my nephew. I'm sure it is an absolutely lovely book with a great message, but I have not had the pleasure of reading it myself yet. And since my sister in law is an ingrate and never writes thank you notes or calls to say, "hey, thanks for sending my kid a gift!", I really have no idea. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Excellent for the preschooler
Simple, straight-forward and a great follow along book for the preschool, pre-reader. We enjoyed the simple story and the more complex drawings but also the layout makes it easy for our little guy to identify particular words as we read.
