Growing up tough and rebellious in Harlem, Althea took that fighting attitude and used it to go after her goals of being a tennis champion, and a time when tennis was a game played mostly by wealthy white people in country clubs that excluded African Americans.
In 1956, she became the first Black American to win a major championship when she won at The French Open. When she won the celebrated Wimbledon tournament the following year, Gibson shook hands with the Queen of England. Not bad for a kid from the streets of Harlem.
With determination and undeniable skill, Althea Gibson become a barrier-breaking, record-setting, and world-famous sportswoman. This new and updated edition of this inspirational biography contains recent information on the impact of Gibson's legacy.

Very well made Oxford casual shirts.
Size: X-Large, Color: Sky Blue
I've ordered 8 of these Button-down collared, long sleeved Oxford shirts in eight different colors. I'm 6', weigh 195. And have a 44" chest and fairly broad shoulders. The XL give me ample room, plenty of shirt tail to tuck in. And are well made. The shirts have a nice soft feeling to them. If you wash them with like items, and dry them likewise, taking them out before the cycle ends and hanging them. You won't have a single wrinkle. The shirts are true to color, and true to size if you follow the size guideline. These are not tailor fit, but regular fit shirts. Fabric quality seems very durable and well made. There is no smell when receiving the shirts. No more so than buying a shirt at a retail store. They do come in a vacuum bag. The shirts are a little heavier than a poplin shirt and can be worn year-round. These are great casual shirts for jeans and a sport coat, or slacks. I like the quality and the colors. I also like the thickness of the shirts. All of the shirts I've bought, black, blue, etc, have white buttons. Which makes them more of a casual shirt. But well worth the price.
