One Hundred FrogsNo other Asian poetic form has so intrigued and beguiled the English speaking world as the Japanese haiku. No other Asian poetic form has so intrigued and beguiled the English-speaking world as the Japanese haiku. Even before World War I such imagist poets as Ezra Pound, Amy Lowell, and John Gould Fletcher were experimenting with the form. At that time, Pound well described the haiku as "an intellectual and emotional complex in an instant of time." Indeed, it is the haiku's sense of immediacy and its precision that continue to appeal to poets and poetry lovers today. In recent decades there has been an upsurge of interest in the haiku, leading to a number of critical studies of the form, studies that have now culminated in the present book. This insightful work not only considers the haiku itself but also the extremely important yet often ignored renga or linked-verse form, out of which the haiku grew. No deep understanding of the haiku is possible without familiarity with the renga. One Hundred Frogs begins with a detailed history and description of the renga and haiku. Many renowned Japanese poets, most notably Basho, are represented in the wealth of translated poetry that illustrates the text. To bring this history up to date, a discussion of modern Japanese and Western haiku is included. Next, the author discusses the craft of translating renga and haiku and explores recent developments in the two forms, offering a representative selection of modern works. To reveal the myriad choices open to translators of renga and haiku, the author provides an in-depth analysis of one of Japan's most famous haiku, Basho's poem about a frog in a pond, and presents a compilation of over one hundred translations and variations of the poem. The book closes with short anthologies of English-language renga and haiku by contemporary Western poets that offer a tantalizing glimpse of the diversity of expression possible with these two forms. An instructive celebration of the renga and haiku, this volume furnishes a new perspective on the work of some of Japan's outstanding poets of old and lays a foundation for the appreciation of the renga and haiku that are being written today.Binding Type: Paperback

Love the look, but Narrow
Size: 10, Color: Marine Blue/Woodbury/Ivory
What is for my son-in-law, he loves them, but had to switch them out twice because they run very narrow. He doesn’t have a wide foot at all so be careful when you purchase. Other than that they are a good looking shoe and he really likes them.

Awesome value shoes
Size: 11.5, Color: Ivory/White/British Tan, Size: 11.5, Color: Ivory/White/British Tan
These white Cole Haan shoes are just what I hoped for, the color is a perfect off-white, somewhere between cream and pure white, which gives them a more refined look. The quality feels excellent, they’re very comfortable right out of the box, and the laces feel durable and well-made. They fit true to size with no issues. Based on this experience, I’ll definitely be buying more from this brand in the future especially at this price point.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Clean Look, Comfortable Ride
Size: 11.5 Wide, Color: Woodbury Handstain
The Cole Haan Men’s GrandPro Tennis sneakers are a perfect mix of laid-back and polished — the kind of shoe you can wear everywhere without thinking too hard about it.
Right off the bat, the design is subtle but refined. They’re minimalist enough to pair with jeans and a hoodie, but they also work with chinos and a button-down for a more put-together look. The “tennis” aesthetic keeps it classic without feeling like you’re wearing athletic shoes.
Comfort is where these really shine. They’re lightweight and cushioned in all the right places, so long walks, errands, or standing around at events don’t end with sore feet. There’s no stiff break-in period — they feel good from the first wear. The sole has just the right balance of support and flexibility, which makes them easy to wear all day.
The materials feel good too — soft, sturdy, and not flimsy. They hold up well after repeated wear and still look fresh even after a few outings. They don’t crease or scuff up excessively, which is always nice.
If I had to point out a downside, it’s that they’re not performance sneakers for athletics — but that’s not what they’re meant to be. They’re lifestyle shoes that look great and feel great for everyday wear.
Overall, a solid go-to sneaker that elevates casual outfits and keeps comfort front and center. Easy recommend if you want versatile kicks that stay stylish without being loud.
I was able to pick up this particular pair here on Amazon for 50 bucks, 56 total with everything and honestly I’m still scratching my head in that deal. I mean my New Balance were 70 bucks or something like that.
These are brown leather, sophisticated and comfortable, just amazing shoes. I get compliments all the time.
