About the Workshop:

This virtual workshop is taught by CBA instructor Iviva Olenick.

Participants in this workshop will learn how to use textile-specific materials to make several types of book covers and structures with fabric and paper. After watching the instructor demonstrate how to attach heavyweight fusible stabilizer to fabric or paper to craft a book cover, she will show how to attach lightweight fusible interfacing to paper or fabric to make the book's inner pages. She will then demonstrate how to stitch the cover and at least one inner page together using a variation of the pamphlet stitch and the whip stitch. Next, she will demonstrate how to embroider only the top layer of paper or fabric covering either heavyweight or lightweight interfacing, and how to embroider on both sides so that both sides are legible. Participants will then make sample book covers and inner pages incorporating these techniques. Finally, the instructor will demonstrate how to use quilt batting and hand stitching to create book covers and pages. Participants will experiment with these techniques, also applying skills and materials from the three previous Fiber Arts as Book Arts sessions, including naturally dyed fabrics from session 1, plant-printed and stamped paper and fabric from session 2, and embroidered paper and fabric from session 3.

The three previous classes are not required but recommended.

This workshop is the final installment in a four part series which also covers natural dyeing, kitchen printing, and embroidery.

Required Materials:

  • Plain cotton muslin fabric
  • Hand embroidery needles
  • Scissors for threads and fabric
  • Heavyweight & lightweight fusible interfacing
  • Quilt batting
  • A selection of papers you would like to experiment wit
  • Optional: thimble & embroidery hoop

Awesome quality glow balls
Color: I) 8-Pack (2.5" Balls)
I have bought every glow ball on amazon many times over for my german shepherds. My longest lasting balls have been the chuck-it, they seem to glow longer and not get destroyed but are expensive. These glow balls are our new favorite and not only because of the low price. They hold a good glow longer are heavy duty and fit the chuck-it thrower perfectly. I am stocking up on these. Shipping was also next day so it's 100% buy on these.

Glow in the Dark Balls
Color: 2-Pack (3" Balls)
These balls are ok, not great. The reason they didn’t receive 5 stars is because they are hard/stiff, harder to throw & heavier than the the “Chuck It” glow in the dark balls. They did not hold up to heavy chewers as well as the aforementioned balls.

Bulky
I was a little disappointed in how bulky these were and seemed hard to get on. If you can get past this they do seem to work good. Hands do seem softer and a bit healthier.

Really moisturizes hands
These gloves really work. My cuticles and hands alway seem dry. I used these gloves the first night I received them and my hands were really smooth afterward. When I get in bed at night, I play on my computer and iPad, and these gloves are perfect. The end of the index finger is designed to be used with a phone, computer, and iPad. Make sure you push the end of the fingers on the gloves all the way down to the end of your fingertips; otherwise you will not be able to use them with a device. I find they work better with my iPad than my computer. I have not tried to use with my phone. The gloves are not uncomfortable, but I found they are not comfortable to wear all night, so I just try to wear them about an hour every night. I wish I had these gloves about 20 years ago and my hands would probably look like a 20 year old.

So much pain
I had to remove these after less than 5 minutes as they caused such intense pain. The gel clings to your skin even with the lotion and tightens around your hands cutting off circulation. They have been off for about half an hour and my hands still hurt. I was so excited as I really like this brand in general. Very disappointed. Be very aware when buying.
