Lotus Plant Description
Nanjing Love 16 Lotus is an award winning lotus from Mr. Ding, with ethereal blooms in creamy-white with violet-purple edging. The shorter, inner petals are subtly kissed with green on the petal tips. Nanjing Love 16 Lotus is medium in size with yellow receptacles and handsome green foliage.
Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no-holes container (14 - 24 inches wide or wider). Fill the container 2/3 full with loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add 2 - 3 inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny area outdoors. Lotus need 8 - 12 hours of strong sunlight to grow and bloom. Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, it is time to fertilize your lotus. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plants, taking care not to damage the roots.
Fertilize each month throughout the growing/blooming season (June through September), making the last application in early September.
